I used this pack for day-to-day back-and-forth use, as an alternative to a large deployemnt backpack. I hiked with it round trip from work to quarters. Main compartment opens very wide so you can pack your coat, rain, or gym gear. The two front pockets were ideal for carrying small items such as flashlights, and small gadgets, You can easily fit your Pad or 10" netbook in the mid compartment with space to spare. The velcro in top pocket allows you to attach your nametag or patch. This pack fits petite, regular and wide shoulder builds, but you need to spend some time adjusting the straps to your fit, but once you adjust them, you do not feel the pack at all. Attachment points fit both ALICE and MALICE clips. Metal loops are great for attaching lights, hooks, etc. Compression straps are very manageable and have stowing loops. I was looking for a small backpack to take on day hikes, to the shooting range etc. I'm very pleased with this pack - it's small but roomy with plenty of attachment points. I'm going to a shooting competition and will use this for my overnight bag. The main compartment has a small document compartment as well as a mesh pocket for small toiletries. This compartment has a pair of my size 16 sneakers, pair of jeans, socks etc and my competition shirt. (I'm telling you this so you get a sense of size, not because I think you are morbidly curious about my clothing.) The next compartment is a little thinner so I've put assorted T's in there with some shotgun cleaning patches, cleaning rods and so on. And then the 2 smaller pockets have ammo. I've used some of the MOLLE points to attach a couple of external pouches that contain more ammo. It IS a shooting competition; I have just over 100 12-gauge rounds in the pack... First thing I notice that is not the same as what I thought I ordered is that the picture shown of the Army Digital Pack shows that this pack has black zippers and black under padding on the shoulder straps. It actually has consistent color with the Army Digital color pattern. It is actually better that they are not black. This is not really an issue at all, but, I just thought I was getting a pack with Army Digital patterning and black zippers. I like the size of this pack. It is a little smaller than a full daypack, but way bigger than you might think. This pack can hold a lot of stuff. It is even wide enough to fit my 15" MacBook Pro in the main compartment and still have more room for more stuff. This pack is more long than it is wide, which gives it a smaller look, but this pack is deep. The combined depth of all compartments at the base of the pack is approximately 10-12". This review is from: 5.11 PUSH Pack (Sports) I purchased this bag a few months ago as an everyday carry bag to replace a larger messenger bag. The bag has been very useful for carrying a few daily items such as notebook, a couple of pens, a book, pocket knife, flashlight, water bottle and a handgun when deemed necessary. There are a couple of small pockets, but they can only accommodate items like a knife or small flashlight. The two water bottle holders expand and have Velcro closures, so they can double as extra pockets. The bag can accommodate extra pouches utilizing the MOLLE strap systems, but I have not actually used this option. The only real complaint I have is that the main compartment can barely accommodate a full-size hardback book. I realize the bag may not have been designed for carrying books, but a couple of more inches would have made a big difference. I ordered the OD Green and find the color darker than the on-line swatches, but actually a better color. The bag construction is excellent and delivery was fine... I use it for the things we have realized would be good to have at times now that the kids are out of diapers. I have in it, first aid kit (2 day size), 2 backup diapers, 4 disposable ponchos, sanitizing hand wipes, ear plugs for those loud movies, 2 small sippy cups for when the restaurant doesn't have lids, mosquito spray, tissues, crayons, toilet seat covers, sun screen, and still have room for a concealed weapon. I haven't put a firearm in the pocket, but it should support a midsize semi auto, like a G19, just fine. It hangs nice and isn't as hot as a backpack. I have used th side pockets for water bottles a few times and they are a great place to put your sunglasses. I use it to carry the things that make our life easier and safer.
